They do actually expect to create microscopic black holes. Presumably they will evaporate in a puff of Hawking Radiation. I certainly don't have the necessary knowledge but if there truly is any chance AT all -- no matter how astronomically small -- of catastrophe on a global scale, WTF are we thinking?
