Albert Einstein Action Figure

I guess this is my first "not really astronomy" post, but it's almost astronomy related.

I know a few of you who read my blog are also now playing BlogShares. Those of you who do, if you've not noticed yet, there's a new raffle on the go and the prize is an Albert Einstein action figure.

I can hear Matt bouncing up and down in his seat right now (another member for the launch crew eh Matt?).

So, if you've got a bunch of chips burning a hole in your pocket, you know what to do...

Even Marvin thinks it's a good idea. That's why he's pointing a gun at my head, he's making me buy raffle tickets. I wouldn't normally, honest...

File Under: Geek Toys, Desk Toys, Albert Einstein, BlogShares.

I guess I better get the credit card out and get ready to order the new leader of my launch crew :-)

I suspect Marvin will be lonely for a little longer. ;)

Dave- you said,
"I guess this is my first "not really astronomy" post, but it's almost astronomy related."

When I started my "adventures in blogging" on Astronomy in July of '05, I was very concerned about not posting anything other than Astronomy stuff. I hope that's not the case with your blog. I am nosey, as you know, as to what other poeple / amateurs & Professional Astronomers are doing to amuse themselves when the weather isn't forgiving. I think others would like to know too. This has been a long cloudy winter and, like you, I am finding other things of interest to me to blog about. If it doesn't break up soon, I may start photographing my Star Wars toy, er, I mean action figure collection-starting with my 3 meter long Naboo Star Fighter.

When skies clear up again, it's back to business for me. :-) (monkey business). Science, Astronomy and learning about others with the same interests is a cool/fun thing. Like the rockets, like Blogshares, Terragen, The Orbiter video game ...

I found you through our mutual friends at S&T and again through a link to Sketching Observing sessions, your site is great!

What was the "Sketching Observing sessions"?

I stumbled across your site a while back when I was considering sketching my observing sessions.

It was on a google or yahoo link to some other astro site that had templates of planets and the Moon. I don't remember exactly, I do remember seeing your stuff a while back.

I can see I'm going to have to do some more vanity-searching. ;)

So, have you done any sketching so far?

When did you put your logs and sketches on-line?

No sketching I want to share :-)

I know I stumbled across your site a while back and did the ohhhh's and ahhhh's back in the summer when I was frustrated with not being able to photograph accurately what I was seeing through the eyepiece-because I lacked the money and tools to do it. That changed in September '05. I am still learning how to use the equipment now - weather doesn't help the learning curve.

I have all my old Astro links, unfortunately a lot of them just go away. If the link I got your site from pops up and is active, I'll send it your way.

Bah! All sketching is worth sharing! Even if you think it's terrible there'll be useful information about your impression of an object in there and, just as importantly, it might help encourage someone else to have a go.

I guess you are right. I may put a couple of them up some time. I post my bad and good images - so what would the difference be? It's a learning thing.

I have an Astronomy Journal loaded with stuff up until I started my website to keep track of things.

I'll fire up the scanner ...
