Where's SG1 when you need them?

Just seen this report in The Guardian — looks like another "asteroid to hit Earth" scare.

I had to have a smile at the name of the body: Apophis. As an incurable Stargate fan the name Apophis has some appeal.

And, of course, SG1 once saved us from an asteroid.

File Under: Apophis, Asteroid, Stargate, SG1.

When I saw that story come up in my RSS inbox, I had hoped they'd named it after the Stargate baddie too.

I think it was all this fuss over "Planet" Xena that put the idea in my head.

Just you wait until it mysteriously appears to pass right through the Earth... ;)

They name a whole planet after a character on Farscape: Rigel.

Or was it the other way around...?

I'll see your planet called Rigel and raise you a whole star. ;)

My bad.

I just get so excited about Farscape... :-)

Heh, I know what you mean; some SciFi series do get under your skin don't they? Like I said in the original post, I'm terribly addicted to Stargate (both SG1 and Atlantas).

I don't know why but I never really "got" Farscape — it's not that I disliked it, it just never seemed to click.

Although I did find that Claudia Black made it quite watchable. ;)

Seems that some of the Farscape (and at least one member of the Andromeda) crew have found new homes at SG1 these days — and they're making a good job of it too.

Oh, yeah, that's a point, the Andromeda fans can claim that they named a whole galaxy after their programme. ;)

The modern remake of Battlestar Galactica has REALLY gotten under my skin. If you have an opportunity to see it I highly recommend it. I just downloaded the last 5 episodes of season 2 that I'd missed from iTunes! :)

Oh, yeah, the remake of BSG is fantastic — at least the first series is anyway.

I'm currently waiting for the second series to turn up here in the UK.

Yah, I'm a huge BSG fan as well. The last episode was a doozy; I was actually yelling at the TV. Former ST:TNG fans will recognize the new "bad guy" on the show, as well (I can't say more without giving away the plot).
